Introduction to the Systems Administrator profession
The systems administrator is responsible for ensuring the availability, performance and security of IT infrastructure. A true technical pillar of the IT department, they oversee the smooth operation of servers, operating systems and critical applications on a daily basis.

Main responsibilities
Installation and configuration of servers
Deploy and configure physical and virtual servers. Install essential services (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP) and business applications. Automate deployments.
Maintenance and monitoring
Monitor system performance. Analyse logs and alerts. Apply security patches. Ensure preventative and corrective maintenance of infrastructure.
Backups and business continuity planning
Design and maintain backup strategy (3-2-1 rule). Test restoration procedures. Develop and maintain Business Continuity Plans (BCP).
Access management and security
Manage user accounts and access rights (Active Directory, LDAP). Implement security policies. Manage SSL/TLS certificates. Ensure GDPR compliance.
