Frequently asked questions about the HRIS analyst profession

Do I need to be an IT person or HR person to become an HRIS analyst?
Both profiles work. An IT profile will bring strong technical skills (SQL, APIs, architecture) which they'll complement with HR competence development. An HR profile needs to develop technical skills. The ideal is a hybrid profile with solid foundations in both domains. Master HRIS programmes enable this dual competence.
Which HRIS systems are most requested by recruiters in 2026?
Cloud HRIS systems dominate the market: Workday (international groups), SAP SuccessFactors (large enterprises), Oracle HCM Cloud. In France, Cegid, Lucca and PayFit are very present in SMEs/mid-market. Workday or SAP SuccessFactors mastery is particularly valued with salaries 15-20% higher.
Can the HRIS analyst work in full remote?
Yes, partially. Hybrid remote work (2-4 days/week) is the norm. Some 100% remote companies recruit HRIS analysts in full remote. However, project deployment phases and user training often require physical presence.
What career evolutions for an HRIS analyst?
Several possible trajectories: technical specialisation (HRIS architect, integration expert, HR data analyst), HRIS project manager then HRIS manager, HRIS consultant in consulting firms or self-employed, or IT department transition. The role offers great career flexibility between IT and HR worlds.
What are emerging skills for an HRIS analyst in 2026?
Generative AI is transforming the role: HR chatbots, intelligent automation, predictive people analytics. Sought skills are API and integration mastery (SaaS ecosystem), data skills (advanced SQL, Python, R), people analytics and advanced BI, plus cybersecurity and GDPR compliance.
