Role Overview
The product manager is the conductor of a product's development, whether physical or digital. A true internal entrepreneur, they carry the product vision, define strategy and coordinate multidisciplinary teams to design, launch and evolve products that meet user needs while achieving business objectives.
Product manager sits at the intersection of technology, business and user experience (UX). They identify market opportunities, define product roadmap, prioritize features and work closely with development, design, marketing and sales teams.
Key Responsibilities
Product vision and strategy definition
Identify user needs through qualitative and quantitative research, analyze market and competition, define positioning and unique value proposition. Establish long-term vision aligned with business objectives.
Product roadmap design
Prioritize features by business and user impact, define iterations and sprints, arbitrate between quick wins and structural features. Use frameworks like RICE, MoSCoW or Kano for prioritization.
Product specification writing
Write user stories, acceptance criteria and PRDs (Product Requirements Documents). Define user journeys, workflows and functional mockups collaborating with UX/UI designers.
Multidisciplinary team coordination
Work daily with developers, designers, data analysts, marketers and salespeople. Run agile rituals (daily standups, sprint planning, retrospectives). Arbitrate technical, budget and time tradeoffs.
Product launch and iteration
Orchestrate product launch coordinating marketing, sales, support and communications. Track KPIs (acquisition, activation, retention, revenue), analyze user feedback, identify improvement areas and iterate rapidly.
